Intern Insurance Coverage
<—Back to the Internship Program
Group Insurance Program
Coverage 8/1-7/31
Foundation in Christ Ministries, Ltd., through BUPA Ireland can make available its group insurance coverage to those Interns who need a source of health insurance cover while serving in Ireland. BUPA Ireland is a private insurer for the Irish market and has made available to FICM, Ltd. its group program. The coverage is comparable to a typical American indemnity program, and has a small excess (co-pay or deductible amount) of EURO 63.50 (approx. $ 85.00) for use of private hospitals in Ireland. In Galway there are three hospitals, two public and one private. The EURO 63.50 excess amount is only payable for services received in the private hospital, all other services, subject to policy limits, are 100% covered in both private and public facilities. When a public hospital is used all people must pay a EURO 32.00 (approx. $42.00) fee to the Irish government, there are no other charges not paid by the insurer, subject again to the policy limits. A summary description of the policy is available for those who are considering this alternative.
Should an Intern desire to use the group cover, a one time fee of $850.00 must be paid at the beginning of July. This is simply our cost in Ireland converted to dollars. The insurance is non refundable to us, so one year cover is required. Please feel free to contact us should you have additional questions.
