Interning at An Tobar Nua was an amazing experience! God taught me so much – far beyond what I thought I would learn in the one year I worked there. I learned how to serve the Lord alongside a body of believers from all different backgrounds, I learned what it means to lay my life down for someone else, and I learned how to apply my Scriptural knowledge to daily life in serving Him. I am so grateful for the privilege of working with Foundation in Christ Ministries and for the thousands of ways the Lord blessed me through it. I saw Him do awesome and unexpected things in the daily interactions with people in the shop and at the school retreats. I witnessed the power of prayer and the power of praise as we worked together to further the Kingdom. I loved being able to interact with teenagers on a daily basis! To be stretched in so many ways, experiencing another culture and the challenges of ministry work, was scary but also exciting. It was a wonderful year that I will carry with me for the rest of my life!

For me, this has been an incredible year of growth and challenge. There have been many days of joy and happiness and laughter and I cherish them. What great memories I have of An Tobar Nua lunches, the energetic students, relaxing Sunday afternoons, trips to Cork, small group on Friday evenings, inside jokes, movie nights, sleepovers, dinner with the Autrys, and the many trips to Butler’s Chocolate Cafe. But there were also many days when all I could do was cry out to God. As difficult as those experiences were, I wouldn’t have traded them for the world. The Lord used those times of brokenness to draw me close to His heart, speaking love and faithfulness to me in the way only He can do.
Working in ministry is a constant challenge; loving and serving people day after day is tough. Those hard days though seem to fade when a student asks about Jesus or a worker has the opportunity to share the Gospel. The Lord richly rewards and blesses those who choose to serve Him. I’ve come to know that firsthand. Your faith WILL be stretched and you WILL grow. Your life WILL change. Are you up for the adventure and the challenge?
