Emmaus School
Emmaus Scripture School is an ecumenical/interdenominational Bible school at An Tobar Nua in Galway City that specialises in helping students better understand scripture. Christians of all backgrounds are welcome and we respect each other’s traditions. We do not teach theology or doctrine. Instead, we seek to provide a solid foundation in scriptural knowledge to enrich each student’s experience and contribution in our respective traditions. We focus on our common heritage in Holy Scripture and recognize our primary unity in the One Savior, Jesus Christ.
Courses are taught in two terms (Autumn Term and Spring Term) that typically meet weekly for twelve weeks. Emmaus Scripture School courses are tailored for all levels of learning and receive accreditation through various institutions. A variety of universities in the United States also grant credit hours to students who choose to study at Emmaus Scripture School.
Courses include the following:
· How to Read the Bible
· New Testament Survey
· Old Testament Survey
· Jesus and the Gospels
· Luke
· Acts
· Epistle to the Romans
· Hebrews and the General Epistles
· Beginners Introduction to the Bible (Four Week Course)
On the road to Emmaus, Jesus explained the Scriptures to his disciples (Luke 24:13-32).
The goal of the Emmaus Scripture School is modelled after this element in the life of Christ. Together, in a professional, educational environment, we study and explain the scriptures. Through our in-depth study programs, our hope is that the Scriptures come alive in the lives of our students. Students gain a solid foundation in scriptural knowledge and learn sound methods of reading and applying the sacred text.
