About Ireland

Ireland is the second largest island in Europe, situated on the northwestern edge of the continent. It has a population of over 5 million people.  

Historically known as the "Land of Saints and Scholars," Ireland was once a center of Christian faith, learning, and mission and has a rich spiritual legacy. The cultural heritage of Ireland is full of poets, story-tellers, and musicians.  

Known as the Emerald Isle, Ireland is famous for its natural beauty and lush green landscapes. It enjoys a temperate maritime climate, due mainly to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the presence of the Gulf Stream.  

The ministries of FICM are headquartered in the city of Galway, with ministry outreaches extending throughout the country. In August of 1998, our founders, Kelly and Susan Curry, opened the doors to An Tobar Nua.
