An Tobar Nua Cafe

Café on the Canal

Nestled in the heart of Galway, An Tobar Nua is more than a Café, it’s a place of hope.

An Tobar Nua means "The New Well" in Irish. Every day, our team seeks to share the love of Christ through simple but meaningful acts of hospitality, friendship, and conversation.

We believe hospitality is an important part of community and our mission is to build authentic relationships where the Hope of Christ lives in our daily interactions and service. Our team is proud to serve homemade baked goods and excellent coffee, through Badger and Dodo, an Irish Boutique Coffee Roaster.

Ministry happens here through everyday relationships, where we aim to create a space where people feel seen, valued, and loved

Investing in the Next Generation

Young people are at the heart of what we do and we strive to make the Café a place where students feel at home.

Secondary students visit the Café each day for cookies and hot chocolate, or other contemporary Irish classics like spice bags or chicken rolls. They gather around the food for board games and conversations with other students and An Tobar Nua staff.

An Tobar Nua hosts seasonal, themed parties at the Café to celebrate the secondary students throughout the year.

The Café hosts a weekly faith-based youth group called Faith Alive. As well as various clubs depending on student interest, such as art club, poetry club, creative writing club, chess tournaments, and more. For years An Tobar Nua has also had a thriving Young Adults Game Club where former students come back for games and fellowship.

Why It Matters

In a world growing increasingly digital, we believe in the enduring power of conversation and hospitality to shape the lives of young people and share the Hope of Christ. Our team is passionate about hospitality and building a community through delicious food, excellent coffee, and loving our neighbor.

We believe every cup of coffee made and every meal prepared, is a unique encounter to share the love of God with each person who walks into our Café.

Praise Nights

Periodically we gather together to make a joyful noise to the Lord. These nights are a source of encouragement as believers from different denominational backgrounds come together to worship God with one heart.

“Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” (John 13:35 NLT)
